Plenty of text on your screen cannot be selected: a screenshot a colleague sent, a scanned document, a photo of a whiteboard, a number inside a chart, text baked into a graphic. Jarvis reads the image and transcribes the text, so you can copy what was previously locked in pixels. frontier models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google read clear printed text very accurately and handle a lot of handwriting and stylized fonts too. Because it reads whatever is on screen, it covers cases a clipboard OCR tool misses, and you trigger it with the same hotkey you use for everything else.
Often you do not just want the raw text, you want it organized. Ask Jarvis to pull the line items and total from a receipt photo into a table, the contact details from a screenshot of a card, or the dates from a scanned schedule. It can then write the structured data into a Google Sheet, a Notion database, or a Todoist task, or translate the extracted text into another language.
