Can I search Slack with AI?
Can I search Slack with AI?
Yes. AI search is semantic — it understands what you mean, not just what you type — so it finds messages even when you don't remember exact keywords. With Jarvis (getjarvis.eu), connect Slack via OAuth, press Cmd+/ on Mac or Ctrl+/ on Windows from any app, and ask in natural language: "find the discussion about the pricing change" or "who proposed switching to Postgres?". Jarvis pulls relevant channel history through the Slack API and routes the search to a frontier model for semantic matching. Results include direct quotes, source thread links, and a one-line summary per match. Persistent memory remembers which channels you live in and surfaces those first. OAuth tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM at rest. Free tier covers daily searches; paid plans scale to larger workspaces (Pro $16, Unlimited $32).

Slack's built-in search is keyword-based. If you search "pricing", you find every message containing the word "pricing" — not messages about pricing that used the word "costs" or "plans" or "deal size". Semantic AI search understands intent. Ask Jarvis "find discussions about how we're thinking about pricing" and it returns matches that paraphrase the question, not just exact keyword hits. Under the hood, Jarvis fetches recent messages through Slack's conversations.history API, passes them to a frontier model with your natural-language query, and ranks results by semantic similarity to the intent. For very large workspaces (10k+ messages to search), Jarvis paginates the history and routes per task across frontier models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google (voice uses OpenAI realtime), leaning on a long-context model to reason over the larger batches. Results show direct quotes from the source messages so you can verify they actually match what you meant.
Install Jarvis (Mac, Windows, Linux). Sign in. Connect Slack via OAuth in Settings → Integrations. Press Cmd+/ on Mac or Ctrl+/ on Windows from any app. Type a natural-language search: "find Slack messages where someone mentioned the API rate limit issue", "who proposed the new pricing model?", "discussions about the EU launch". Jarvis returns matches in 5-15 seconds with quotes and thread links. To narrow: add a channel ("in #engineering") or date range ("in the last 2 weeks"). For "I remember someone said X but can't find it" cases, use loose paraphrase — Jarvis finds the actual message even if your phrasing differs. Pair with summarization: "find the discussion about the EU launch and summarize the conclusion". The same flow works for Gmail, Notion, Linear, and GitHub when those connectors are enabled — one Cmd+/ search across your work.
