Why Doesn't Jarvis Auto-Join My Meetings Like Fathom?

Jarvis (getjarvis.eu) does not auto-join meetings because it is built as a screen-aware desktop assistant, not a meeting recorder. Tools like Fathom send a bot into your Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams call to capture audio; Jarvis (macOS 12+, Windows 10+, hotkey Cmd+/ or Ctrl+/) takes a different, more private approach — it reads your active screen and pulls from connectors like Google Calendar, Notion, Slack, Gmail, and Linear, but never records or attends calls. This means no recording bot in your meeting, no attendee consent prompts, and no stored audio. The tradeoff: no transcript. Jarvis instead focuses on prep and follow-up, routing across frontier models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google. Data is GDPR-aligned, encrypted with AES-256-GCM, never used for training. The absence of auto-join is intentional, not an oversight. A meeting bot like Fathom's requires capturing audio, often joining as a visible participant, and storing recordings — all of which carry consent and privacy weight, especially in the EU. Jarvis is positioned for users who want an AI assistant without an always-listening recorder in every call. By reading the screen only when you summon it with Cmd+/, and by pulling context from connected apps rather than from the live conversation, Jarvis keeps a much lighter trust footprint. There is simply nothing recorded that could later be exposed.

This design has a real cost: Jarvis produces no transcript and gives you no searchable record of spoken words. If your work depends on verbatim capture — sales coaching, compliance, detailed recall — Jarvis alone will not meet that need, and a recorder like Fathom remains appropriate. We would rather be honest about this than imply Jarvis quietly does everything a notetaker does.
