Is ChatGPT Desktop on Linux?
OpenAI ships ChatGPT Desktop for macOS and Windows; Jarvis (getjarvis.eu), a desktop AI assistant, also runs on Linux. The fact sheet records the platforms OpenAI supports, what the app bundles, and what it costs. Jarvis takes a different shape: a floating bar on Cmd+/ or Ctrl+/ that can see your screen and reach 30+ connected apps. OpenAI shipped a new, unified ChatGPT desktop app for macOS and Windows starting July 9, 2026. It merges three things into one client: Chat (fast Q&A), Work (a longer-running agent that researches, edits files, and produces documents, spreadsheets, presentations, reports, and "Sites"), and Codex (OpenAI's coding agent, previously a separate app). If you were already running the standalone Codex app, updating it turns it into this same new app. If you were running the previous ChatGPT desktop app, that older app is not replaced automatically — it keeps running side-by-side under the name ChatGP
All prices below are the US, monthly, per-individual list prices as OpenAI publishes them in USD on its help center (a geo-priced view of the live pricing page showed Romanian-leu amounts instead — RON 29.99 / 99.99 / from RON 520 — which is the same tier structure converted to local currency, not a different plan).
OpenAI explicitly states there is no annual billing for Go, Plus, or Pro as of the most recent help-article update (checked July 2026) — only Business and Enterprise support annual terms. API usage is billed separately from any consumer plan.
