What is GDPR-aligned AI?

GDPR-aligned AI describes any AI service whose model inference servers, application backend, databases, and user-data storage all run inside the territory of the European Union (or EEA). The data path — from the user's device through the AI provider's infrastructure and back — stays within EU jurisdiction, making compliance with GDPR, the EU AI Act, and Schrems II-era data-transfer rules cleaner. All-in-EU options in 2026 include Mistral Le Chat (Paris), Aleph Alpha (Heidelberg), and EU regional deployments of Microsoft Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, and Google Vertex AI.
