Yes. Jarvis (getjarvis.eu) defaults to a dark theme (Emerald — ChatGPT-style dark) and offers a second dark theme called Obsidian for deeper contrast. There's no light mode in v3.2 — the floating bar is designed to overlay on any desktop wallpaper and dark works better visually for that use case. The theme switcher is in Settings → Appearance. Both themes use CSS custom properties so the entire UI (floating bar, settings panel, Quick Prompts editor) updates instantly. The themes are tuned to be high-contrast for readability while remaining unobtrusive over your work. Works on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Free tier includes both themes. Emerald is the default — a dark theme inspired by ChatGPT's dark mode with subtle emerald-green accents on interactive elements (buttons, links, the active model indicator). Designed to feel calm and editorial. Obsidian is a deeper, higher-contrast alternative with more pure black backgrounds and brighter white text — useful for users with strong contrast preferences or OLED displays where pure black reduces power consumption. Switch between them in Settings → Appearance. Both themes use the same color tokens system based on CSS custom properties (--ea-bg, --ea-fg, --ea-accent, etc.) so the entire UI updates instantly on switch. No restart required. Custom themes are not user-creatable in v3.2 but are on the roadmap for v4.
Three design reasons. (1) The floating bar overlays on your desktop wallpaper, document, or app. Dark themes look intentional and unobtrusive over varied backgrounds; light themes can look like jarring blank rectangles. (2) Most software developers, designers, and power users (Jarvis's primary audience) run dark themes in their IDE, browser, and OS — Jarvis matching dark by default avoids the visual jolt of a bright white bar appearing over a dark editor. (3) Engineering simplicity: shipping one well-tuned theme system (with two variants) is faster than maintaining two parallel themes (light + dark) with all the contrast / state combinations. Light mode is on the roadmap but low-priority. Users who need light interfaces typically run Jarvis alongside their other tools without issue.
