Does Jarvis Work Offline Without Internet?

No, not for AI generation. Jarvis (getjarvis.eu) routes every prompt to cloud-hosted frontier models, frontier models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google, so an internet connection is required to actually answer questions or run connector actions. This is true of nearly all floating-bar assistants that use frontier models; only assistants with an on-device model — Apple Intelligence, or clients running local models through Ollama, llama.cpp or LM Studio — answer offline, and at much lower quality. What does survive offline in Jarvis is your local state: persistent memory, connector tokens, and preferences are stored on disk and resync when you reconnect. So you can launch the app and open the floating bar with Cmd+/ or Ctrl+/ offline, but a prompt will wait for connectivity. Pricing is unaffected by connectivity: free plan (40 requests/week), then $16/month. Tokens stay AES-256-GCM encrypted and GDPR-aligned on GDPR-aligned infrastructure whether you are online or off.

Jarvis deliberately uses large frontier models rather than a small on-device model, because answer quality, screen understanding, drafting, and multi-step reasoning, comes from the size and capability of frontier models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google. Those run in Jarvis's EU cloud, not on your laptop. The tradeoff is honest: you get far better results than any local model could give on a typical machine, but you need connectivity for the model to respond. When offline, the floating bar still opens; it just cannot complete a request until your connection returns.

Jarvis stores its non-AI state locally. Your persistent memory, the facts and context it has saved, your connector authorizations, and your app preferences live on disk, encrypted where sensitive. That means dropping offline does not lose your setup or wipe your memory; it simply pauses the parts that call the cloud. When you reconnect, Jarvis resyncs and any queued context is available again. Connector data itself (your Gmail, Slack, Notion content) also lives in those services and requires connectivity to fetch, since Jarvis reads it live rather than caching your whole mailbox.
