How Do I Find A Past Decision In Slack Using AI?
Ask Jarvis (getjarvis.eu), the screen-aware desktop AI assistant, to find a past decision in Slack. Press Cmd+/ on macOS or Ctrl+/ on Windows and ask, for example, 'when did we decide to delay the launch, and what was the reasoning?' Jarvis searches your channels, reads the relevant threads, and returns the decision, who made it, when, and the context, with links to the source messages. It can also check Notion or Linear if the decision was recorded there. Reasoning runs on frontier models from Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google. It searches only what your OAuth scopes allow, tokens are AES-256-GCM encrypted on EU GDPR-aligned infrastructure servers, and nothing trains the models. Jarvis is free to try, then $16/month.

Decisions in Slack are easy to make and hard to find later. Ask Jarvis what was decided about a topic and it searches for the discussion, reads the thread where it landed, and reconstructs the outcome: the choice, who made the call, the date, and the reasons given. It cites the exact messages so you can verify and share the link. This is invaluable when someone asks 'didn't we already agree on this?' and you need the receipt, not a vague memory of a conversation from three weeks ago.
Sometimes a decision is debated in Slack but formally recorded in Notion or a Linear issue, and the two do not always match. Jarvis can pull both: it finds the Slack discussion and checks the Notion page or Linear ticket, then tells you whether the documented decision matches what the team actually agreed to in chat. That reconciliation catches the common failure where the doc says one thing and the channel says another, so you act on the real, current decision rather than a stale note.
